Phase Change Materials

At Bergad, we can incorporate phase change material (PCM) on to our foams and gels in order to wick away heat from the source. Additionally, this material can be coated onto any formulation.

PCM is a substance that absorbs and disperses thermal energy during transition of phases.  When it moves to a solid state, it releases energy in the form of latent heat, which is then dispersed throughout the material to maintain a relatively constant temperature.  Conversely, when the phase change particles transition to liquid state, the material itself remains solid but absorbs a great amount of thermal energy from its environment, creating a cooling effect.
