Breaching Foam & Gel Systems
Engineered for Directional Force and Energy Transfer
Bergad Specialty Foams
Engineered Materials for Breaching Applications
Bergad Specialty Foams formulates and manufactures specialized energy management materials designed for explosive breaching applications.
Our 9768V Viscoelastic Foam and XTA Gel are engineered to help manage directional force and optimize energy transfer while providing practical alternatives to legacy auxetic foams and hydrogel sheets. Both materials are made in the USA and can be customized to meet specific application requirements.

9768V
Viscoelastic Foam
A specialized
buffer material
engineered for rapid
dynamic loading.
Buffer Material
9768V is an open-cell viscoelastic polyurethane foam featuring an inherent shear-hardening response under rapid dynamic load. Designed as a replacement for legacy auxetic foam, it helps optimize directional force transfer upon detonation.
With a standard density of 9.7 lb/ft³, 9768V can be supplied in custom sizes and thicknesses, with optional adhesive on one or both sides. Alternate densities are also available upon request.
- Open-cell viscoelastic polyurethane construction
- Shear-hardening response under rapid load
- Designed to replace legacy auxetic foam
- Supports dirrectional force transfer
- Custom sizes and thicknesses
- Optional adhesive configurations
- Alternate densities available
- Made in the USA
XTA
Gel
A flexible, frangible
tamping agent designed
as an alternative to
hydrogel sheets.
Polyurethane Gel Formulation
XTA Gel is Bergad's polyurethane gel formulation for breaching applications. With a density range of 54–70 lb/ft³ and a hardness range of 00 Shore 50–70, the material remains flexible for handling and shaping while being fully frangible upon detonation.
XTA Gel is easy to cut and shape, leaves no residue after use, and offers infinite shelf life when stored under proper conditions. It provides a cost-effective replacement for conventional hydrogel sheets.
